i am just now finishing king of kings
i like the historical/old episodes. i jsut can't get into the more modern ones (like BfA or the nuke one)
i think the fall of the roman republic is my favorite series and better htan khans

read yesterday that he was about half way through with his newest episode and decided to completely change subjects. So it may be awhile before the next one drops.
I thought he was halfway done when he dropped it to start the 'Destroyer' episode that came out in January.

Take it with a grain of salt, it was a post on Reddit from a random user that said that and now I can't find it.

He mentioned that he had been working on a lot of hardcore history stuff during his last Common Sense Podcast. I imagine we're getting pretty close. I would love for him to finally do the bonus episode for Blueprint. He said there's another full episode of stuff he couldn't get to.

TO each his own. My personal favorites are
Wrath of the Khans, Blueprint for Armageddon, and Prophets of Doom.
I really enjoyed the audio clips he used for Destroyer of Worlds. Also partial to Death Throes and The Punic Nightmares due to a love of all things Roman.

What app are yall using to listen to some of the older ones. I want to listen to the Khan series, but it isn't available on the Apple Podcast App, and it isn't available for purchase in the ITunes Store.
I see it is available on the Carlin website, but I don't know where to send it after that.

Damnit, After reading your post I went to reddit and found out why.
Dan was going to do a HH about the Aztecs and Cortez, but Danielle Bolelli did one in the interim and forced Dan to change topics

You can download it directly to your device from Carlin's website. You can also find some of them online for free on huffduffer by googling the name of the episode.

My only criticism with Carlin is he seems to be solely land-based on his military history.
His level of specificity and nuance would be incredible for a WWII Pacific front deep-dive, but I get the feel he's not as comfortable with the naval aspects as he is with land-based tactics and details.
It's a shame, because I've never really seen anyone delve deep into the naval conflicts of WWII. They're beyond fascinating, and I don't think the lay person has any clue how indescribably difficult naval warfare was at that time.

New to the podcast thing.
Where is the best place to get the older podcasts. Carlin has me hooked with Blueprints, burned through those in a couple of weeks.
ETA: Dangit...Profit beat me too it.

My last contribution to this thread. If anyone is having HH withdrawals, there is a podcast called "The Martyrmade Podcast" which is pretty awesome. I'm listening to Fear and Loathing in New Jerusalem right now. It's a multi part series discussing the origins of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

That's a shame. Never heard of Danielle Bolelli. Worth checking out?

All I've heard is that he's awesome. I have had trouble getting past his voice though. He has a thick Italian accent

Destroyer of Worlds is about the atomic chess match that existed between the word superpowers post-ww2. The podcast begins with Hiroshima and ends with JFK

I gave his WWI episodes a shot but I was a little put off by his dramatic delivery style. Does he have academic credentials?
ETA: looking at the Wikipedia list of episodes, there are definitely some interesting subjects. Maybe I should give it another shot?

I've kind of given up on JRE. Pretty much just listen now when I hear someone being up a certain episode that was good or if I see he has a guest that I'm really interested in.... first off they are pretty long and he puts in a lot of hours a week podcasting and I just don't have enough time in the day to keep up with my other podcast.
Currently have logged over 2,600 hours on just my stitcher app

To each his own, but I love his oratory style for the most part. The only thing that annoys me about Carlin is that he tends to lower his voice sometimes for dramatic affect, which is fine, but I end having to turn up the volume on my listening device. So when he gets louder, it blows out my eardrums, and I have to turn it back down.

Carlin has a degree in history, but as intelligent as he is, I don't think it adds much to his casts.
The degree is more a by product of his interest IMO.
