The PGA move is getting all the hype but its only 150-200 jobs and Frisco and the State are giving $160 million in incentives to move there. The bigger relocation announced last week is McKesson moving to Las Colinas. They are the #6 Fortune 500 company and will be bringing way more jobs to DfW. But Las Colinas doesn't have the marketing hype machine working like Frisco.

bingo, companies have been moving their HQs to the metroplex for decades, and that is the primary reason

If they bring a big tournament to DFW it could have several 10s of millions of dollars worth of economic impact.

slightly off topic, but can we move the byron back to irving? way better layout for spectators.

A golf major isn't a big draw for especially players?

Corporate headquarters make it easier to attract corporate sponsorship for its tournaments. Texas now offers that in a consolidated area whereas Florida doesn’t offer that to the degree that Texas does. Texas will surpass California as the worlds largest economy in 10 years too.

Just a clrification...the "PGA of America" is moving from Palm Beach Gardens. This group puts on the PGA championship and Ryder Cup and various club level items . There is the PGA Tour in Ponte Vedra that puts on the events you watch every week (excluding majors) and the USGA which is HQd in NJ (US Opens / US Amateurs / Rules and research

Do you know what a golf major is? It is one of the 4 most prestigious tournaments in the world, and quite literally every top player will play in it.

apologies, let me clarify, the two PGA tournaments that are currently located in the DFW area are not much of a draw to fans and do not get much interest from the upper echelon tour players either, geez, you guys

cool.

they have planned for the PGA championship, a major, to be at this new course at least twice.

quote:

“The PGA Championship will be here in 2027 and 2034,” said PGA COO Darell Crall. “And the unprecedented cadence of championships includes the women’s PGA championship, the senior PGA championship and others.”

couldn't hurt, small window of weather to make it appealing though, imo, not much of a spring or fall kind of uncomfortable most of the other time
