So, I'm thinking the Punk will be liable for damages to the park grass... and any other things damaged during the chase... Which IMO should include the grandpas car and the paint scratches on the Ram...

Curious how the charges and case will be handled in this situation.

In theory, it would be great to have the kid pay for all of the damage he caused. Problem is, he doesn't have any money.

Let me rephrase: Doesn't look like he's driving through a park at the moment of impact

The impact occurred after he drove through the park. The article says that when he rammed him, it looked like he was going to try and go back through the park.

His parents may, until he's 18 they are responsible for him. If a minor is at fault, you can go after the gaurdians insurance and assets...

I don't know, now that I think about it.

If the exact same situation happened and a police cruiser pitted him, would they be liable for the damages?

I understand that. I thought y'all were saying that it's not fair that the dad/mom has to pay for his damages.

Yea, I agree that it's not fair... But hell, My old man would have been whipping my arse for years if I pulled some Chit like that at 14. My arse would have been red like --->

Dad is a hero but also a moron for admitting that he did it on purpose. He could have easily said he was just trying to block the wacko kid and he would've been fine.

I would have had permanent paddle marks from the arse whipping I would have received. But there is no way around making the parents liable. Your kid fricks up - you pay for it. The alternative is even more fricked up.

The kid who did this is 14 and should shoulder some responsibility (something like time in Juvenile Hall or community service). But at the same time his age means his parents are still ultimately reasonable for his actions. They should shoulder whatever monetary damages resulted from his little adventure.

I'm sure his insurance is going to love the impending lawsuit. Hell they might not even cover any of it.

Even if the Dad purposely, and admittedly wrecked him out?

Eta; Strictly damages to the car, everything else should rightfully be on the kid and his parents.

This has gone viral on Youtube and Facebook and the trucker will probably end up with enough donations to buy himself three new Cummings... With those videos I don't think any Judge would have a problem with throwing it out of court...

That kid oughta get such a whipping that he ends up in the emergency room
