Got damn I miss being in the military and having this as the everyday lingo.

People give me looks when I use terms like "chuckle head","dick skinners","Moon beam" and "ink stick".
Just this morning I'm like "For frick sake Pastor Bob! You Pog! Get with the program!"

It's not an easy transition. I have been accused of being too militaristic more than once. Like it's a bad thing.

What does that even mean? Did you tell someone to get their dick skinners off your shite or what?

Just don't be the chode wearing all your OIF / OEF shite everywhere treating everyone like shite because you have entitled veteran syndrome.
Best way to make the transition is buy a motorcycle. You'll find a ton of vets and like minded people and it will keep the sense of adventure and element of danger in your life.

I speak like that to civilians. They find it refreshing when I threaten to count punt them across the office for not throwing away their Kuerig pod when they were done making their espresso.

The best is showing up to work on time everyday and seeing everyone else roll in 10-15 mins late.
Second best is being hired along with a non-veteran and seeing how much faster the veteran works to become a contributing member of the organization.

I am too driven, blunt and to the point, from what I understand. I would rather just get the job done, instead of sitting around for ten minutes asking about our evenings. I'm there to work, not be your bestie. We can talk when the works done. Probably why so many companies actively seek out veterans for employment and why so many advance quickly. Everyone else is wasting time.
ETA:
I did have some choice words for my co worker once. It culminated with him being shite in a wool sock and it was getting hot in here. He quit when the HR manager who happened to be a veteran, laughed his off and "reprimanded" me.

Early is on time, on time is late.

Don't people go in the military because they can't survive in civilian life? So how can they transition a decade later if they couldn't survive in civilian life to begin with.

Annnnnnd here is the obligatory sniveling liberal pussy fart coward slimy civilian puke who makes a disparaging comment about those who have served because deep down he/she/it (are you pre or post op, snowflake?) knows in their tiny little vegan gut that they do not pack the gear to serve.

That or they had a medical condition and claimed they couldn't get in due to blood pressure or some crap like that
