Alabama criminal code is completely fricked up. You can empty an entire pistol magazine in someone's direction and as long as you 1) miss and 2) didn't state to someone that you were trying to kill those people, you can only be charged with reckless discharge, as if there would be another reason to blast a dozen rounds in someone's direction other than to kill or seriously injure them. BUT, if you do it from a car or toward a car, that's an entirely different matter and is a felony.
