Topic could also be "the sad state of Nola in general", or "the sad state of trashy people and what awaits America", or any other multitude of depressing topics.

My sister is a 3rd grade teacher at a charter school in Nola. Monday they had a field trip to the local park. Just a simple day in the park in this beautiful weather we've been having. Innocent enough right?

She has 2 really bad trouble maker students that she told couldn't go on the field trip without a chaperone. Naturally they both bring their dads. Whoopsy.

The 2 students wind up getting in a full blown fist fight with each other. The 2 dad's subsequently get into a fight also.

One dad storms off with his child, livid to the point of full on fear from my sister. Screaming about how's he gonna kill the guy, he's coming back with "people', and whatnot. The other dad (much calmer of the 2) tells my sister, "I'm sorry Ms. So&so, but I gotta call my people too. Out of respect for you though I'll make em wait down the street."

So here we are, what's supposed to be a nice serene day in the park on a beautiful day, and my sister is terrified there's about to be a "posse" brawl and/or shootout. She ends up calling the cops because she's scared for the students, as they're all crying at this point. Luckily the posse never showed up.

It's obvious where these kids learned their behavior. You think they have any shot in life? What's even worse is one of the kids has 11 siblings.

11 other kids that will wind up breeding their own pool of what are sure to be delinquents, and so on and so on. It's Idiocracy at it's finest.

Tell your sister to get out of NOLA public schools. It’s no place for someone who actually cares about the children and doesn’t know the thug life

Sadly that was the most surprising part of the story to me.

Yep. If she gives a frick and wants to teach for a long time, she needs to go somewhere else.

She has a good heart and specifically wanted to help public school kids, but after a few years in it she's been broken. She's ready to get out.

Yeah it sounds like such an incredulous, fictional story.

One of thousands. I don't have statistics, but I'd bet that the percentage of beginning public school teachers who actually make it more than three years in Louisiana today is around 50%.
