One might say that Chauna Banks isn't monkeying around anymore.

Metro Councilwoman Chauna Banks and a group of activists who successfully led efforts earlier this month to keep BREC from relocating the Baton Rouge Zoo from Greenwood Park, are calling for administrative and policy changes at the zoo, as well as for an investigation into why the facility lost its national accreditation with the prestigious Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
At a press conference scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at City Hall, Banks said she planned to demand answers to the following questions:
How BREC has spent money at the zoo;
Why the agency hasn’t spent more over the years;
What specifically led to the zoo losing its accreditation?
“We want a full review and a public hearing on the AZA accreditation issue,” Banks told Daily Report in advance of the press conference. “When did they know? When did the board know? When were they first notified?”

Wait when did it not moving become a final decision?

BREC board voted unanimously not to move it after heavy pressure from the black community in NBR.

Chuana Banks might be the dumbest human-being on the face of the planet. She's just mad that the BREC commissioner called her crazy and said she admitted one day that Chauna was off her meds.

I’ve been to this zoo too many times the past decade. And when I’ve went, maybe 10% of the patrons were black. The community provides zero support.

This coming from the idiot that turned a blind eye to the crap being pulled at the COA

Correct. NBR essentially held the zoo hostage and forced BREC to make a decision they will probably regret in the long run.

BREC is a state agency.
BREC board should tell her to pound sand. She (and the rest of EBR government) have no right or ability to investigate BREC.
She needs to talk to her friends in the legis who threatened to change BREC's charter if BREC didn't stop the zoo move.

Just another day in Baton Rouge.

BREC was chartered by the state, but it isn't a state agency. It's our parish park system funded mostly by local taxes and self generated revenues. It's run by a local board appointed by the c-P council, the planning commission, and the mayor and school board.

Looking at that a pic... I could get a lifetime ban so easily

This may be the only type of probe she gets.

Power play to control the zoo.
