Obviously by your post you don’t know anything about the crawfish industry

I do. I know everyone was forced to go to being paid by check and receiving a 1099, just like crabbers, shrimpers and oyster fishermen, because of rampant tax cheating
I know a few buyers control prices and that they've figured out they can charge nearly whatever they want to ship seafood out of state, raising in state prices.
I know that every year, early in the season, there is some weather event that attempts to temper expectations, and thus raise prices, which magically corrects itself after Good Friday.

Honestly I’ve made money more years than I’ve lost money. You need to ask different people. Whoever your asking my just be lying to you also. Some years are good some years are great, some years are horrible and you lose money. That’s farming for you. I enjoy what I do. You take the good with the bad. No one is forcing me to do this.

So, they’re no better than welfare fraudsters

Totally false
Tell me why 20/22/23 prices in Feb were lower than the 10 year avg if they can charge whatever they want
Tell me why on Holy Week in 2022 the price was the lowest is been on that week in 15 years
Tell my why 21/24 were higher
Yea shipping out of state has caused demand to go up but crawfish acres have doubled in the last 20 years. The price on avg follows a similar curve pretty much every year

Yeah the farmers who work year round are no better than unemployed welfare fraudsters…. You and loogaroo make a good pair together y’all might have an IQ of 50

It's not so much a raise as it is some are double dipping. Most ended up fishing last season and making some money. It was just a couple months late.

Gee what was going on in Feb 2020 that could have hindered prices? Cherry picking dates is a bold strategy

Could you continue to farm without al the subsidies?
Posted on 10/3/24 at 10:45 am to loogaroo
Yes I could keep farming. What do you mean all the subsidies. I got a Covid subsidy which every industry got something and then the ELAP subsidy. What other subsidies do you think we’ve gotten?

lol you’re a clown
Covid didn’t affect prices until Mid-March

As usual, another clown show in a crawfish thread. The same old thing over and over on here.
If these posters had a clue it would be somewhat bearable to try and educate them. But most know everything there is to know already. And don't know shite.

Crawfish farmers get bent out of shape when you call into question their honor, but then they all claim it was someone else that caused the IRS to crack down on them because of the rampant under-reporting of income. It's been mentioned a few times, but not one person has addressed it.

Most of the crawfish people I know are strictly cash based. The don't report anything to anyone. How do they show their production numbers from the last three years when they never reported anything? Soybean, corn and other grain farmers sell through a grain elevator and their sales are relatively easy to audit. The grain companies pay with checks and there is a paper trail. Crawfish people tend to get cash from buyers with no paper trail.

Most of the people you know have 500+ acres ponds or 5 acre ponds? I get a check for everything I sell. Therefore I get taxed on everything I produce. Same thing with my rice.
People that crawfish for a hobby get paid in cash. People that crawfish for a living aren’t getting paid in cash

Yeah, since when? I am willing to bet quite a bit of money that this is within the last 10 years
ETA: keep in mind, I know folks in seafood, specifically crawfish and crabs
