Covid 19 deaths down 17% compared to last Sunday. 297 deaths today

I think it's probably a little early to know if this trend will continue. I'm hopeful that it will since it seems like the more recent infections have come from a younger crowd, but the deaths tend to lag behind the increase of cases. Hopefully we see the trend continue.

That’s good news. It’s only logical we will see a slight increase in positive tests with things opening up, it it’s good to see deaths continuing to decrease

Also if you look at the replies to that tweet you see that deaths appear to be on the rise in the SW. The country is going to have to be able to have a bunch of difference plans for reopening/staying open, because the data is not the same throughout the country.
Even within the states we're going to have to do a better job of finding "hot spots" and shutting those down without shutting down the entire state. In Louisiana, Lake Charles and Acadiana are seeing a pretty big growth for the first time, but that shouldn't necessarily shut down other parts of the state.

Exactly. About half the states are decreasing, and about half are increasing. Florida in particular will be interesting. DeSantis has stopped saying "it's just increased testing". Positive tests have gone from 5.5% to 11%. A lot of it is in younger people. But this kind of growth can become a major problem very quickly.

Assuming you see hospitalization rates the same as they were. Which doesn't seem likely if this is the younger demographic getting infected.

And in even with the big growth, COVID hospitalization in the SW Region (where Lake Charles is) is only at 60% of where it was when it peaked in April. ICU and hospital beds running at only 50% of capacity.
