Show me an officer with any physics knowledge, and I'll listen.
Basic cops don't investigate traffic fatalities, that's why they have traffic homicide and collision investigators who specialize in such things.

This was a basic collision, so Im sure no specialists were on scene.
The "specialists" aren't that great, either.
Accident reconstruction is a lot of physics, and while not extremely difficult, usually, it takes some education.
Not just "guesstimates" with a tape measure and opinion and knowledge gained from a brief LSP course...
It is a sore point for me, and I would encourage anyone involved in a fatal accident to immediately hire an attorney and quickly retain a legitimate accident reconstruction company.

There were/are multiple problems with that work zone. Whoever put it up had no idea what they were doing. State and or city will badly lose the lawsuit.

Not necessarily. LA law says that if a sidewalk isn’t available, pedestrians must walk facing oncoming traffic. The couple was not.
What’s wrong with the work zone?
