The single dad that wanted to do better for his kids and not able to get some kind of support was the eye opening part to me.

Hey now- they did send him, at least for a little bit, a whole arse "professional homemaker"... I didn’t even know that ever existed. Sucked when it fell through though.
I was floored by the welfare union thing... the sense of absolute entitlement has gone on a LOT longer than I thought.

between COVID, people bellyaching about DOGE cuts earlier in the year, and all the SNAP BS the last week, I've learned i'm a complete sap for working hard.

There are no cases in the USA of starvation due to lack of securing food. There’s about 20-30 cases/year due to mental illness or persons being held under duress.
