Could they build an overpass interstate on top of Airline Hwy?

Is that something that could be possible? They should really look into it if so. No lights with exits on Siegen and other popular roadways. Would definitely help with traffic.

Would it be burn-out friendly for Dodge Challengers?

We can’t add a lane to an existing interstate, much less build an entire roadway over an existing road way

Yes. There is actually a plan from DOTD called BUMP that would turn Airline into a freeway with feeder roads.

It’s not funded of course.

Yes building an overpass is possible. lol wow how is this even a question?

The real question is do we have the will to do it and if we do, is that the best use of that will or should there be a northern bypass that cuts through Livingston parish and central then goes over hooper rd to the old bridge!

It’s more important than we send money to Ukraine than to pay for something like that.

They're trying to tear down the Claiborne overpass in NOLA because this is apparently racist.

Well considering the fact that this deals with BR, I figured it was a more than appropriate question. As other posters have said, looks like they’re already looking into something like this.

Yes.

It would have to be extremely limited access (likely entrance/exit ramps from center/between elevated roadways like I-110).

But where do you start it? Certainly not at where it crosses I-10.

I would think somewhere between HWY 73 and Highland (and if you play it right, you could tie it in with the new bridge near St. Gabriel - maybe elevated over Spanish Lake)

Feasibility studies for a new bridge has been going on for the last 25 years. And still no closer to happening than it was 25 years ago. Louisiana politics cannot do anything unless it involves someone getting wealthy. Feasibility= how can we make money off of this?

Another thing you have to consider is that bridge is 83 years old. It wasn’t built to last much longer than that. It really will need to be replaced before more traffic is directed to it. Not to mention the railway.

They could do a lot of things. Question is how to grease crooked La politicians. There’s a reason the state is a complete shithole.

Basically the only options are things that help power brokers out in Prairieville and/or the plants. Nothing else will be considered, even though most INTERSTATE truck traffic is coming through I-12, not I-10.

I thought they should have built a flyover for north south traffic from just north of Jefferson highway to just south of Pecue. It would through traffic to avoid Jefferson, Sherwood, Industriplex and Pecue.

Cannuou imagine the amount of blown tires, mattresses and other shite that would accumulate on the shoulders? The shoulders of the I220 bridge in Shreveport is like an open-air fricken flea market.
