Absolutely. There are plenty of examples of absolute power. I differentiate Hitler by, as the OP said; “the way he rose to the top”. I don’t think we’ll ever see someone single-handedly induce the kind of fervor that he did with just his voice. Persuasion rather than force. The next one will have many layers and will be supported by numerous actors and tools.

What is difficult for me to imagine in the AntiChrist figure is how almost everyone in the world will follow him.
Half the country hated Obama. The other half hated Trump. So you will have to have a mass casualty event that wipes out opposition and allows someone to come to power (of course the AntiChrist character would secretly be behind this.)
Then there is the American distrust of foreigners. Until you realize that America could be the substitute for Babylon in the scriptures. If America is wiped out, and Europe becomes the seat of world power again, they would probably get behind an AntiChrist figure.
I have a family member who swears its Prince William. She's freaking out that Charles has cancer and may abdicate the throne or die soon.
Her theory is this, and its not completely crazy:
America is destroyed from within by the Democrats and Southern border invaders.
This results in tribal warfare within the country. Coalitions of states form non-functioning governments. Our natural resources are depleted and destroyed by the rest of the Western Hemisphere nations, led by Trudeau.
William rises to power in Great Britain and negotiates peace in the Americas, Europe and the Middle East.
He announces a Third Crusade and defeats Islam and declares Jerusalem the capital of the world and announces a temple will be built.
He is killed by an Islamic terrorist but rises in three days and declares himself God with the help of the False Prophet.

Frank Amodeo came close. Was slowly building his own private military, Air Force included. His plan was to take over the Congo first and expand. Then he opened his psychotic pie hole and revealed his real plan at the UN Summit. Gov. methodically stripped him down,and threw his arse in the clinker.
