Downvote facts. Oh, by the way, the mediation settlement was likely 7 figures approved by the UA Board of Supervisors.

Such a horrible horrible story.
It most definitely sheds a bad light on the school.
Girl was so distraught about being raped. Thousand miles away from home. Went to the only place that could help her. Then hung herself.
That's horrible for UoA no matter how you look at it.

At least now people have some awareness about the rape problem the University of Alabama has.
If this helps to protect one more girl from being raped at the University of Alabama, it will have been worth it.

Nc14 is typical of Alabama fans wanting things to just go away. That's why this girl is dead in the first place.

Not really bumping. I am in and out on the computer and read when I can. Many people in this thread have a broad base of knowledge in many areas. Think of it as a painting painted by many painters. I am unsure yet if it is a masterpiece or a velvet Elvis but I cannot take my eyes off of it.
The fact that it is Tuscaloosa holds little attraction for me. I would still be interested if it was a D2 school. You should change your attitude to be more like Spicy Sally and just want the truth.

Ya. even as presented by the Watkins dude right now focusing on TPD / DA office, its not a good look for the city and therefore the university - but other posters in the area said yesterday that people in Tuscaloosa are pissed and hopefully all of the involved parties get fired / jailtime where applicable once everything comes to light.

You can fire one or two employees at the University of Alabama but we all know the root cause of the problem there and it's money and greed. The university has exhausted its resources to pay Nick Saban a grotesque salary which causes the University to be whores to people like sweet tea and his money.

Ppl are jumping on this with their personal / political agendas. Watkins is an example.

Ya i can tell it is slanted to a degree - but everything is, you just have to read through it and look for the facts.
As it sits, it doesn't seem like much will be known for certain without new facts. The PAC payments, while look terrible, aren't really a smoking gun. (I personally hate the whole PAC deal at a national level but it's the way it is I suppose) I'd be curious if similar payments were made prior to this case or to the opponent, etc. to get a more complete view. But as someone else said, local businesses pay into that, its just what happens. In any case, intent is going to be damn hard to prove for all parties involved.
That quote is certainly pertinent, but again intent is really hard to prove whatever my own feelings about the parties involved are.

Abernathy’s characterization of the March 2016 grand jury presentation as “impartial” is a complete departure from reality. District Attorney Lyn Head and her staff presented Megan’s rape allegations to the grand jury. Sheriff Department investigators Adam Jones and Josh Hastings reportedly assisted Head with this presentation. Megan was not available to testify because she took her life on February 26, 2016. Megan was ready, willing, and able to testify in late July 2015. However, Head decided at that time to close the case without presenting the case to a grand jury. She informed Megan’s father of her closeout decision in late July 2015.
That quote is certainly pertinent, but again intent is really hard to prove whatever my own feelings about the parties involved are.

Go look up Watkins and Eric Ramsey at Auburn.

This is NOT going to end well for Bama. I believe there is ALOT more to this story not out yet. Seems Sweet T is quite the ladies man with Daddy's money.
The video of the Sheriif Dept interviewing her and then the suspect were disgusting. The video of them with this arse hat and his lawyer looked like they had just got done with 18 and slapping down a few drinks at the 19th hole. What a farce!
I find it also hard to believe that this young woman was not raped. She would not have killed herself otherwise. No matter this is a tragedy for this young woman and her family.

I agree this will get ugly. The only reason he's getting off is because he has money and money makes the tail wag in Tuscaloosa. So far in this thread we have proven how the university caters to big donors to the point of turning their heads to Serious crimes. Bama needs to look at themselves in the mirror and figure out ways to become less dependent on vultures like this.

How does this surprise anyone? Alabama is where the "good ole boy" system and nepotism started.
Posted on 7/7/17 at 5:20 pm to MontyFranklyn
Nepotism started with the Pope favoring his relatives, 1600s. For the record the Tide went unbeaten that century, too.

I apologize if already posted. Wednesday, 6=28=17, Megan's story was read into the Congressional Record of the United States House of Representatives by Rep. Ted Poe, a Republican from Texas.
He did not give the whole story and botched a few facts, but he did give a fairly good account.
The Youtube video from C-span is about half way down, in the middle. It is a Buzzfeed article.
