Bulldoze it and dig out a lake.

If the area is a shthole there`s a good reason for that.

Polishing a turd is not ever a good move.

I remember always being told to stay away from the dead president streets. It's a crappy part of Baton Rouge

Why is it the streets named for dead presidents,
Seem to often accumulate dead residents?

the expense of remediating the homes of ACM and LBP before shipping the rubble to the landfill would be cost prohibitive.

It’s why it’s easier to let them turn into crack houses and inevitably catch fire.

An enterprising person might utilize the situation to increase the likelihood of what my Jewish friend calls "Hebrew Lightning"

LSU would have to buy and flatten EVERYTHING from campus to downtown and from Highland to Nicholson.

No other way

There has been some gentrification in that area

The area from that brick church North to the old Prince Murat was at one time a high end neighborhood.

It never grew much beyond what it was in the 70s and then declined.

There are other issues besides the slums to the East. The railroad is one. The sewage plant was one. Another is the warehouses and industrial sites along river road.

The good parts of Nicholson were smothered by all the bad and never really had a chance.

To revitalize that area would be a major undertaking and would include relocating the railroad tracks and putting in a larger pumping station to overcome the poor drainage issues.

The current CRT Administration would view this as racism, so that's not happening. We have to curb underage drinking first! Once that is fixed, everything else will fall into place. The thugs that are taking over will see that kids aren't drinking at a young age and will follow suit.

I used to live over there, someone came in and bought all that property there and knocked down all the houses. Problem is those werent the problem people.

The problem is that bit of area around aster and all that before you get to that stretch with the plantation. they have talked about putting a street car type deal for years and revitalizing that entire area.

From what it seems like they just fixed up that side of campus that used to be the married dorms, and didnt do anything for a couple of miles then built a water campus.

Cutting public transportation out in that area would help facilitate the transformation.

The property i lived on backed up to the railroad tracks. they tore all those houses with big lots down on that side of Nicholson. the train was never an issue, never flooded either.

You might not mind all those chemicals passing behind you, but many would.

The area around that red brick church floods.
