After reading 9 pages of supporting evidence from both sides I can confidently say I would probably defeat a bobcat 7 out of 10 times

I'm leaning more towards #TeamHuman than I initially was.

Although I think it depends on the bobcat and the person.

If you stick a large, male bobcat in a cage with a person and let them go at it 10 times, I think it ends with 6-7 W's for Team Human. Some of those victories may be pyrrhic though. The big concern is always that the bobcat gets a hold of a major vein or artery (forearm or neck).

I consider it an L for me if I walk out of there disfigured.

Are we talking caged death match here or just grabbing a wild animal up and killing it? In a caged fight to the death, I'll go with the human... against a housecat. Still wouldn't be pretty.

Against a bobcat, must humans would kill themselves trying to get out of that cage, after the cat let them go the first time.

I don't think a single poster in this thread could hold on to a house cat long enough to snap it's neck. Not if it wasn't your pet, where it would let you handle it.

You are saying that a person couldn't kill an animal that is 30+ times smaller. You are way off base. It wouldn't even be a strain. It's like you think cats have super powers or something. Next you are going to say that people are too weak to crush mosquitos.

I wasn't aware that an average-sized human was 30+ times bigger than a bobcat.

I have killed a few bobcat, bow hunting. I've also caught the end of a fight between a full grown male German Shepherd and a bobcat, having to bury what was left of the dog.

A house cat is nothing but a smaller version of a bobcat. People seem to have no concept of the fact that both are flexible beyond comprehension, and slinging around about 14 needle sharp talons with enough muscle behind them to take down animals above their own weight. Sometimes 6 or 8 times their own weight.

I guess we got a bunch of ninjas in here.

There was a report of an elderly man (Well maybe more like a 50-60 something year old man) riding his bike in the North west, when he was attacked by a cougar (not a milf). So of course, the cougar caught him by surprise and had the guy from behind. The man wrestled with him and ended up stabbing him and killed him. I think he only had a pocket knife as well. So, yes I think a male adult could kill a bobcat with their bare hands. But yes, the guy could get fricked pretty good but should win most of the time.

The trick would be using your weight to your advantage. Gotta pin it down somehow before it can slash you too badly. If you could somehow pin it down on its stomach. lay on it till it suffocates. If that werent possible id definitelt try and kick it instead of grabbing or punching it

If cat is sedated you could probably do it without a scratch. However, an alert healthy bob cat will get his pound of flesh no matter who tangles with it! Only chance would be several well placed kicks and punches that injures the cat which would allow you to survive the claws while attempting to strangle. Good luck.

I mean I'm not going right at the thing. Do I get to wear any sort of clothing or at least shoes?

I'm kicking the thing as much as possible to try and injure it, anytime I got ahold of it I'm hurling it against a wall/ground (assuming it's not latched onto my arm).

Worst case when it lunges at me and bites me I'm grabbing its head so it's stuck where it's at (realizing it is biting me but at least not in multiple places). Then I'm body slamming it with my full force which should be enough to crush its head

So an animal that weighs up to 20 lbs is our limit? Are we really so frail and harmless?

I mean, without using that one organ that can create nuclear weapons.

Its our cunning and endurance that kills the other animals. Tribesmen to this day still run down deer, gazelles, etc. into exhaustion out in the bush. Homo sapien endurance is unmatched on land.

Big cats run for 2 minutes and take the rest of the day off.
Their prey use endurance to avoid capture.
We out run them.

BTW, do I get to use my bear arms in this hypothetical scenario?

We have an answer!

LINK

quote:

A 46-year-old Georgia woman is being treated for exposure to rabies after she was attacked by a bobcat that she choked to death after it jumped her.

quote:

Dede Mealor Phillips, of Hartwell, had put a bumper stick on her truck last Thursday evening when she heard a neighbor’s dog start barking. Right after, the bobcat appeared and leaped onto Phillips, according to a report in The Hartwell Sun.

Sheriff’s Office officials said Phillips grabbed the bobcat by the neck and “choked it out.

Phillips suffered lacerations on her arms, hands and face. The bobcat tested positive for rabies, officials said.
