This is why I don't doubt those 100,000 cases estimate in Ohio. The fact that there has barely been any testing doesn't mean there are a low amount of cases it just means the government has been horrible at mobilizing a response/containment.

Then I missed that in your post.
Of course, we don't get a 40 degree increase in average temperature in summer either. It's substantial (25-30 F) enough to help.
So let's take the mid-range number, 27. That's 15 C. That's a reduction of .3
So absolutely helpful, but not enough alone to push it down to 1. But again, I'll happily take that level of help.

may not affect it, as we saw with another strain of Coronavirus, MERS
I hear ya. I knew about MERS, but it was born in the heat so I’m hoping it’s a little different.
Also if you look where the hotspots were they were all in the 40s in February with low humidity.
Daegu
Wuhan
Northern Italy
QoM Iran
It may be able to survive in the heat, but can it cause those types of overwhelming outbreaks without cold dry air? Who knows, only time will tell

Yeah but those people were saying that because we literally didn’t know and past viruses have acted differently.
The Chinese study is an actual academic study based on observing the coronaviruses activity
Absolutely, and I hope they are right. Studies have variables though, and one little change can make a massive difference. Were people just more aware and distancing / being more careful, resulting in a drop in infections etc...? Or was it lab tested samples or subjects? I'm generally curious and it seems like actual questions / discussion is being drowned by trolls at this point in the thread. Simply making conversation.

I’m talking about a 40 degree average increase over those areas where the outbreaks happened (Wuhan, Italy, etc.) Come on my dude keep up.

This was also a thought that came to mind. It was bred there, so that plays a big roll. Thanks for the info, you make some excellent points.

Heading there tomorrow. Casino will be the absolute last thing that closes. They exist to take your money.

We have a lot of factors that may hold that R0 number well below China/Europe:
1) Low-ish population density in most areas
2) Little use of public transportation
3) Not really standard for us to live with our spend much time with our team extended families
4) Rolling into the summer months
5) Many social engagements are faster here than elsewhere - compared to Europe if we engage in some type of behavior (going to a restaurant), we’re not really hanging around for 4 hours talking along with everyone else in the adjacent tables.
6) Similarly our work environments, cube farms in the US have nothing in common with what goes on with Chinese in tight spaces on a 6-9-9 schedule.
For the negatives:
1) Obesity and it’s associated cousins may hurt us (diabetes/hypertension)
2) Currently since the link is travel and impact is felt most in nursing homes, it’s felt among those who can afford to travel or afford stay in a nursing home - but let this get loose to the homeless population or NBR type folks who are on dialysis at age 32 from excessive drug use and this will pick up an annoying political and media head of steam that will have us yearn for the good old days of only having sports cancelled.

I think the person who said that confused Trudeau’s wife with Emmanuel Macron’s wife.

Some more promising news on the temperature vs cv19 front:
Still not enough data out of the southern hemisphere to be certain, but it's better than trending the other way.
Hopefully the pic isn't tiny, I'm doing this on my phone now.
