Governor Inslee of Washington said on Face the Nation that he is now considering "mandatory measures" to contain the spread.

I agree with you, sorry if it came off differently. I was trying to reinforce your argument

No one said this.
But his actions leaves him particularly vulnerable in an election year if this does go bad.

That's me everytime I hear someone cough on a plane. I'm usually stuck next to someone coughing unfortunately and I always turn the other way
. Pretty sure that's how I caught an upper respiratory infection back in mid December that took 2 months to go away. I'm glad this virus is bringing the airlines to clean their planes more often, those things are a hotspot for viruses

(REUTERS) - THE NUMBER of people in New York state who have tested positive for the coronavirus has increased to 105 as of Sunday, up from 89 the day before, governor Andrew Cuomo told a news briefing on Sunday.
Cuomo said the tally included 82 cases in Westchester County, a suburb of New York City.
Westchester looking like a potential hot spot. Not very dense population wise at 2,000 per sq mile

I don't believe (and from what I've read over the years epidemiologists don't likely believe) that a quarantine will susbstantially change the number of people who eventually become infected by this virus. Quarantines "might" lower the slope of the new infection curve, which isn't a bad thing, but the now popular view (sort of endorsed by the WHO chief) that China blocked some roads, cancelled some flights, patrolled the streets, and stopped the disease is almost definitely wrong.
They most definitely did more than that. They declared full blown war on the virus and potential carriers. Essentially kidnapping citizens to quarantine facilities with no more basis than a fever, building lock downs with exceptions allowed on only the strictest or circumstances, and sanitizing EVERYTHING.
Now, if that all worked or if they just took it out of the limelight to let it fester in rural areas, I don’t know.
I do know though it’s draconian enough to call both what they did and what Italians are doing as quarantine is laughable. It is definitely not similar categories.

Italy has been plunged into chaos after details of a plan to quarantine more than 16 million people in the north amid an escalating coronavirus outbreak were leaked to the press, sending thousands into panic as they tried to flee south.
The whole of Lombardy, including its financial capital of Milan, and 14 provinces across the worst-affected northern regions, have been shut down until 3 April as Italy grapples to contain the spread of a virus that has so far killed 233 people and infected 5,883.
Thousands crowded train stations in Lombardy or jumped into their cars after details of a draft decree banning people from leaving or entering the region were revealed by Corriere della Sera late on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday morning dozens of police officers and medics wearing masks and hazmat suits waited in Salerno, in Campania, for passengers who had boarded overnight trains from Lombardy. The passengers will be registered and obliged to self-quarantine as fears mount over the virus’s spread in the south.
With all the leakers in this country we would undoubtedly see the same thing

Thankfully Louisiana has ran off many large corporations where people would be traveling the world back and forth.

Earlier in the thread someone asked for guesses on when the first confirmed LA case would be.
I said March 10th, give or take a day.
Crossing fingers if I can become a pandemic Nostradamus.
