Believe it or not, many people see nothing wrong with marijuana, and do not want to be in the same car as someone who is actively trying to prosecute someone who is smoking marijuana. Crazy, huh.

Interesting. Didn't you say that he was up front from the start about being an off duty cop? If they were so nervous or scared couldn't they have just gotten out?

Still against the law.

I'd rather not have cops turning a blind eye to every crime they disagree with.

I love all these people complaining from their desk at work about cops doing stuff while "on the clock" being a fricking Uber driver. I have plenty of issues with cops but this sounds like a guy just trying to make some extra money and is also keeping citizens safe in the process.

So many dumb arguments against this. I mean I want weed to be legal but that person would still be driving under the influence which shouldn't be legal.

They were probably scared little snowflakes and unable to ask the nice officer to let them out because they were too afraid. I'm just thinking out loud.

It is a dick move to rate him a zero after he was up front about it.

Now, if the driver created a huge delay due to pointing out the criminals then I could see maybe a 1 star rating.

You are making this black and white, when it just isn't.

Do you think that I would be against the same driver calling in a report if we drove by someone robbing a store? No. Has nothing to do with cop-hate. It has everything to do with an Uber driver trying to enforce an idiotic law on the clock just because his other job is police.

Ok, take away the radio. If John Q Public Uber driver did the same with his cell phone reporting someone drinking and driving would it be as much of an issue?

boom, and you know that it wouldn't be.

As someone else said, this strictly boils down to the people not liking cops and wanting to be dicks about it.

Fair warning. You are engaged with a huge liberal.

Carry on with this new information as you wish.

I don't give a frick if you are an off-duty cop.

I do give a frick if you narc on someone with a police radio while you are under my services.

now we're getting somewhere. Calling in some crimes is ok, calling in crimes you disagree with are not.

So you take objection because you don't like the law.

Your opinion of the law doesn't matter. He did nothing wrong by reporting it.

It's not like he ran them down and made your friends wait while he made an arrest.

Is the radio the problem? He would have been fine if he would have just driven to the police station to file a complaint after getting the criminals' tag number?

This particular crime, yes. Violent crimes are a completely different story.

Not on a police radio apparently.

once again, you aren't forced to partake in those services. If you were so leery of your uber driver being a cop you could have said "thanks for the ride, I think I'll just get out here" and be done. You were not required to take that uber driver.

Basically, this whole thing is you/your friends like weed (as do I, this isn't an anti-weed thing) and took offense to him calling in a possible law breaker, so you potentially got him fired.

Sounds like he didn't enforce anything. Just reported it. Do you know how many calls an average 911 center gets a day from cell phone tattle tales about bad drivers or kids with no seat belts? This isn't much different except he had a little bit of an inside track to reporting it and maybe has a little more knowledge and training on identifying suspicious activity.
