There are certain reasons you can see a cop speeding and/or putting on lights to get to a call, without having lights and sirens blasting.

1- they could be responding to something that they do not want to alarm the suspect they are coming.

2- they might be going to a call that requires a quick response, but doesn't warrant having lights and sirens

3- people absolutely lose their minds when a cop car is behind them with sirens. It actually creates a more dangerous situation in a lot of cases.

I usually see them driving a normal speed. Responding to the call at the speed limit.

The vast majority of calls will allow for this.

Some will not, but don't require lights and sirens. Others do.

I always stare them down if I get next to them at a red light if they were speeding/not using blinker/texting or breaking some other law.

If they look at me I just give them a disgusted look and shake my head. It shames them more oft than not.

Have you ever asked one how fast he had to go to catch up with you going 75 from your 1 mile head start? Also, ask them how much training it took to do that Dukes of Hazard 360 in the median to "safely" enter the interstate with other cars going 75?

never saw a cop have to do this. They usually put the strobes on and make a nice controlled uturn and merge into traffic. Funny how people tend to yield to the guy with the flashing blue lights.

If on the interstate, I do this every time.
