I see no problem, however, are we talking Halle Berry or Mooshelle Obama here?

You can't live someone else's life.

Get it over with. Be upfront, tell them about it now. Their reaction is on them, not you.

You'll be liberated

Not at all! The confession relates to me having pussed out on telling my folks until now.
Listen to podcasts on YouTube from Abel Keogh. Although he speaks about widows/widowers, he had a segment that would apply to your situation and that is in telling the family about the new person in your life. His advice is sound on the subject.

People get over it after the initial shock. There will be some in the family on both sides who wont agree with it initially. Once they find out that is going to happen regardless of their thoughts/opinion they tend to drop all their bs regarding racial strain.

Trust me, I know.

My kids, of course, have met her and they love her. They love spending time with her. That was the most important thing to me.

Tell them if it was good enough for Thomas Jefferson then it is good enough for you.

So many things here

It looks like you already know you're going to marry this girl, hence the future daughter in law
They know about her but have never met her or even seen a picture of y'all
You know your parents better than anyone here
Have you met her parents?

My advice is you tell them over the phone or without her. Don't make their initial meeting her the time they find out she is black

You're a Bama fan...you're supposed to marry your sister.

They haven't met her but have you told them she's black? If not, why not? Time to be an adult. Let them know and let them know it's getting serious. If they are reasonable people who love you, they'll be happy that you're happy.

You're right.

That's pretty contradictory. That's some separate but equal sounding bullshite.

Been in this exact scenario over 20 years ago.

My suggestion: Tell them matter of factly, and do NOT try to make it sound like she is "acceptable" because of how sweet and awesome she is. Just simply state that this is the person that makes you happy.

The rest will sort itself out over time. If you're going to marry the girl, then your first and only priority is her happiness. Your parents will either fall into line, or they won't. But never make your future wife feel like you are trying to "Sell" her to your parents.

Once you have kids, everything tends to get easier... and more difficult.

That makes a ton of sense. Thank you.

So in your adult age you still listen to mommy and daddy?

News flash, no woman you meet will ever work out with this mindset.

Being from Southern Louisiana and in an inter-racial marriage myself, I gave exactly zero shits what anyone thought.
