Yes, that is a strawman... I just wanted to show an example since you are likening a developmental disorder to a mental disorder

If we happen to be there at the time, I'll just tell my son it's some clowns putting on a show and it's time to leave. Pretty simple.

How so? You brought up mental illness. I was trying to see if you felt the same for all mental illnesses. Either you believe cross dressing is a mental illness or not. You said you did. Now you seem to be backpedaling.

Autism is a developmental disorder linked to genetics.

From your link:

A developmental disorder may be an obstacle to learning. In contrast, a mental illness does not directly impact cognitive abilities, but instead changes an individual’s perceptions and thought processes.

How have I backed myself in a corner? You're the one likening a developmental disorder to a mental disorder. They are not the same.

Yes they are.

It's a mental developmental disorder. Like schizophrenia.

You are confusing yourself and therefore confusing others because the jargon is wrong. "Mental disorder" typically refers to a developmental disorder because "disorder" in general applies to the definition I posted. What you should have been saying all along is "mental illness" which has a different meaning and can't be confused.
