Here's what you need to know:
1)This is neither "new" nor somehow evidence of the deterioration of society. It's happened in BR and many other spots over the years (I've always thought of it as truly winning the negative lottery - this poor lady, RIP)
2)Despite attempts to turn it racial in this thread, it's almost always white teenagers
3)The brains of teenagers (especially boys) are literally not fully formed yet - particularly the pre-frontal cortex, which controls executive function and impulse control. Newer research shows this extends potentially as late as 29. This isn't an argument for no punishment; rather, it's clear scientific support for Dr. Upp's position of forgiveness and not wanting to ruin more than just his daughter's life
4)It's amazing how many "Christians" live out revenge fantasies on this board. In the instance of Ms. Upp's murderers, it seems somewhat likely that the perps' lives were ruined anyway, as what happens is they actually grow up and cannot live with what they've done (see the recent arrest of one of the perps for drug shite).
5)Enjoy yourself and always hug your loved ones and tell them you love them - it's later than you think

Joseph Koenig, Nicholas "Mitch" Karol-Chik and Zachary Kwak, all 18-year-old high school seniors, were arrested this week in connection to the April 19 rock-throwing spree, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said. The final rock-throwing incident claimed the life of 20-year-old driver Alexa Bartell. In two of the seven incidents, drivers suffered minor injuries.
