Did he put the lion in a sleeper or something?

After additional investigation, including examination of the lion, we have confirmed the victim's account that he was able to suffocate the animal while defending himself from the attack
Thats a bad mofo!

You think Ronda Rousey could kill a mountain lion with her bare hands?

Mountain lion, cougar, panther are, in general, the common name for the same animal in North America. Sub-species exist, but in general, roughly the same animal. I think they usually weigh around 120-140 pounds.
Doesn't seem unrealistic that a grown man could kill one, especially if he sees it before the attack. I assume you don't want to go to the ground because the animal would then be able to get his back paws involved in the attack. I would also assume you would need to negate his teeth by cramming your arm or elbow in his mouth and then go for his neck. You would have to be able to take his claws ripping your shoulder and back to shreds. It would be tough.

I want to get a look at this warrior(no homo.)
I caught a little bit of a Himalayan wildlife show the other day, and they had a snow leopard on there. The way that thing is able to go vertical down the side of a mountain when chasing his prey is downright scary, and super impressive. It really puts into perspective just how physically impressive large mountain cats are(I know that pumas are technically "small" cats, but you get my point.)
This guy killing an attacking mountain lion is seriously impressive.

I don’t know, I think survival depends almost entirely on luck. A race against time. Can you subdue the animal before one of the razor-sharp claws slices something that bleeds you out

I think they'll find that this lion was sick or injured or maybe had dental problems something that made him go for the easy layup
They did say it was a juvenile the size of a German Shepherd.
An in shape grown man should be able to hold his own in that situation I'd believe. You'd be scratched and bitten to shite, but I'm not dying in that situation.

I love these types of responses when someone actually is jealous of the hiker

While I certainly appreciate the advice in the article, I have to question “talk calmly and firmly”.
I've read calmly yet you get nasty with it and loud showing you aren't gonna lay down and die.

I can't believe that anyone running a mountain trail in Colorado would be out there with out bear spray. When I went fly fishing there, always had a canister at the ready as well as my 1911 cocked and locked
