No doubt. While the US went with the A-10 as an attack aicraft, the Russkies stole/copied/were sold the plans to the competitor to the A-10, the Northrop YA-9. Frogfoot is a copy of that plane which was the other design considered by the US when the competition for the U.S.'s new ground-attack role aircraft in the 70's

I don't know why someone decided to blur out the insignas on the OP's pic?

Also: Back in that day I would've at least made a pass on her...

LOL, Yes indeed

Looking at that YA-9 pic I see a strong hint of the A-1 SkyRaider in it IMHO.

Being an Army brat I always had a soft spot for the Warthog

True

I consider my time in as "Heaven and Hell"

2 yrs @ Tyndall....3 yrs at "The Heath"

The things I could tell you that I saw in some of those X-ray jobs on Eagles that newbie Eagle-drivers were doing to those old A-model birds would give you nightmares LOL

we had some of those, and it seemed like we always got the old twisted up ones, before that though it was old F-4Cs, so we thought we were getting new hot rods

Remember one eagle that had gone out over the Gulf (Mexico not Tonkin ) on an ACM mission and pulled 8.9 G's with a full fuel load. Looking over the top of the wing looked like a series of humps at a motocross event. McDonnel Douglas wouldn't even ok the short flight to depot at Warner Robbins so they took the wings off and sent it up there on a semi

we had some problems over that gulf too, had one guy, and I don't recall the mechanical issue, I know there was an issue with the canopy, that had to punch out in a vertical dive doing about 800kts, he's been a quad now for around 30 years

That sucks, I'm sorry for your fellow flyer.

Not long before getting to Tyndall they had an Eagle driver punch out into the gulf while travelling at over mach. He had a mid-air with an F-4. When he punched the wind literally ripped his face apart. I heard that somehow he had made it back to flying status later, however I'm sure it probably wasn't in Eagles.

Stinks losing people.

I played soccer with a 1st LT that went down on a cross-country out to Holloman, NM in a T-33. Notre Dame grad that was leaving for T-38/F-15 school within the month. Flew his bird straight into the ground, supposedly from vertigo in a snowstorm

It does suck. Gallows humor is a military way of coping. Got to keep pressing on. It’s when you stop or slow down long enough to think about it that it can make you a human again.

Really dislike it when people blur stuff in pictures.

Either you have rights to the picture or you don't. If you do, you can post it. If you don't, blurring shite doesn't change anything.
