And really short hair; why do 99% of fat chicks have really short hair?

My boss forwards stuff to me all the time and puts "FYI" in the body of the email. Problem is, 95% of the time I was already either included in the original recipient list or was CC'd on the original. Drives me insane.

OK, I changed my mind. THIS is the fricking worst. It's even better (or worse) when there are only 3-5 people on the original email chain, including yourself, and they STILL forward it to you. Like seriously mother fricker? Did my name get lost in the 100 email recipients when it was sent out the first time? fricking assholes
On a side note, this feels very "Office Space / Fax machine-ish"...

I CC the big boss on anything that I would be liable for if its not completed. CCs keep lazy arse people from lying their way out of work or taking responsibility for an incomplete task. I also have no problem telling someone face to face how I feel. If you want to be the big dog, you have to play the part. The corporate world is just a big mental game of chess.

It's usually when they've got shat from above, so they look around for somebody to shite on to make themselves feel better.

damn ya'll are some shitty employees if you don't have a more trusted relationship with your boss than passive-aggressive CYA cc emails.
then again, i dont take shite personally when we have a customer freaking out about something. our CEO sometimes comes to grab me to smooth over problems with a customer who has managed to get his private info and is bugging him nonstop just to get them out of his hair.

definitely a trust issue. i know my shite and so every once in awhile if i screw up i'm happy to let everyone know.
its no big deal. the execs are much more likely to be cool with employees who don't try to make others into scapegoats for their mistakes.
of course, that assumes you're competent in the first place.

We have a very small staff where I work. There's one guy who is in my same position (on the org chart, but we have completely different responsibilities) that does everything possible to not be in teh office. He'll set up lunch meetings with people that are totally unnecessary, usually comes in a bit late, leaves a bit early, doesnt' have to work weekends, takes off 2 weeks around christmas, takes off the friday before a long holiday weekend, etc. On the face of it, most of this stuff isn't necessarily WRONG, I'm just establishing a pattern here.
So in teh rare instances where he DOES have to work into the evening or on a weekend, he will FOR SURE send an email and CC everyone in our department. Even for something as utterly frivolous as "Hey all, just wanted to point out the work that [a part timer] was doing tonight, he's been doing great work. Just want to give him some recognition!" It is 100% only so people can see that he's working "late". On the even rarer occasions that he's working on a weekend, sure enough he'll send a department wide email about something insignificant. "Hey all, I noticed [insert something that doesn't' matter], next week we should have that looked into".
It drives me crazy and I REAAAAALLY hope that the bosses have caught on too. It's certainly not my place to point that out, but I mean it seems like it'd be obvious at this point.

Its not about trust, its about accountability and liability. If I send out said email without a CC and things aren't completed then the liability is on me. I never ask my employees to do anything that I haven't done, won't do, or is unreasonable. I actually take up for them more often than not when something passed down isn't possible to complete. I'm definitely not a "Yes Man".

i have a co-worker like this.
there's a sign-in sheet for weekend office access and i don't think he's missed putting his name down on it once in the last 10 year.
i'm also quite certain outside of the occasional 'good job' comments he hasn't gotten a cent from this behavior.

I like the one's who throw you under the bus via e-mail AND cc their boss. Very solid leadership there.

dont get me wrong; if the boss needs to be included in the project update i don't mind to CC him but i try to avoid including him in the 73 're: re: re:' responses in the meantime.

eventually they will shoot themselves in the foot with this behavior; why give shitty employees tips to keep their job?
