I never have pretended to be rich. I'm just not stupid enough to think the rich are hoarding money or that their wealth has any effect on me.

Yes, and offshoring profits. And Trump cut the corporate tax rate by like 50%. Guess what? We're still hovering at like 2-3% GDP growth. Because people like to believe corporations, and the people that run them, would do the right thing and look out for workers with the extra windfall. That's what the GOP told us would happen.
Instead, they did exactly what the dems said they would do. Stock buybacks.

This is what happens when this country goes to the extremes. Now granted, a president doesn't have as much power as people thinks (considering its only one branch of our government), but they obviously have a lot of influence and I think the person who is elected needs to be able to consider both sides.
Like they say, a successful negotiation is one where no one wins and you don't get that with extremes. Bernie is extreme, Hilary was extreme, Trump is extreme (but more of an opportunist). Things need to be balanced out. That's how this country was designed to be.

Great. So raise taxes, and what do you think will happen?
Do you think that money will stay in the economy?
What percentage does the top 10% pay of our taxes?

It's the most fair way to do things, aside from the fact that governmentental theft isnt fair at all.
There is that undefined word again.
Again, why %? Do the rich use different roads that are government provided? Does a better Military defend them?
If % is fairer, why not charge them more for EVERYTHING?
It would seem to me, that charging everyone the same amount for the same product would be fairest of all...

How about the companies they own? Cool with them, too?

Hilary was not extreme, she was just a terrible centrist corporatist candidate. Waaay too much baggage. Now that Trump is in office and we're in Trump-era politics, I'm not sure a centrist candidate can beat him. It'll take someone equally as insane. Cue Bernie.
Our country is swinging to populism. It's possible to be a centrist populist, but given the level of divisiveness right now.... Unlikely to happen.

Absolutely.
Why wouldn't I be?

Yep. Don't even care. I don't care if Jeff Bezos is worth 300 billion in 10 years. It doesn't really have any impact on me. I can choose to not shop on Amazon if I want I guess

Couldn't agree more. I, too, am disgusted by Trump gifting corporate farmers $30,000,000,000 of tax payer money, with more to come, because of the trade war he started. That's a lot of money per vote, eh?
Yeah, Trump is the first and only president to subsidize farmers

this a serious question? Of course it's a matter of percentages.
Why can't you answer my question? If it is SO stupid, it must be easy to refute.
Why shouldn't the rich pay a higher price for ALL products... If that is FAIR?

She wasn't as extreme as Bernie, but I wouldn't consider her a moderate either. And she is terrible....

I agree.
The most important votes used to be those in the middle.. Both sides had their base, people who would vote a certain way no matter what while candidates tried to appeal to everyone in the middle. Now, everyone in the middle is forced to go one side or the other.

I absolutely agree with this. It’s not being jealous, it’s just common sense or should be.
You don't understand why capital gains are taxed at different rates than regular income? Or that someone like Jeff Bezos has most of his wealth tied up in company stock and hasn't realized any financial gains on it?
His wealth is mostly on paper. It could be worth very little in 6 months if something unexpected happens

commies don't understand this. They think people are hoarding cash
Government has killed more people than industry" yet they trust government.
Millionaire and billionaire wealth is in the economy. In fact most governments rely on it for capital projects.

He's just a moderate centrist that wants to steal money from the rich using the force of the state because he thinks they shouldn't have that much money

It amazes me that people want to tax net worth. It's absolutely akin to government confiscation of private or publicly owned businesses.
It's almost like they don't understand most of these ultra rich people don't have their wealth tied up in extremely liquid assets

If you had a billion dollars in stocks, you have lost about $60,000,000 just in the last two days.

They aren't satisfied that you're taxed when you make money, taxed when you spend money, taxed on property you already own. Now they want to tax you for possessing money and equity just because you own it and even though you already paid taxes on it.
There's no amount of money in the world that would satisfy these vampires.

I've lost about $5-6k. I'm definitely not rich though.

Making money off of money you've already paid taxes on is immoral now I guess. And they have to pay taxes on it a second time if they sell the assets. We'll all be asked to pay taxes again on our Roth IRAs in 10 years to prop up some new school lunch program or free gender reassignment surgeries.
