Younger dipshits who make tik-toks would have no reason to know who he is. That said, he probably got dude’s attention because he is so distinct looking.
You don’t really notice who is around you in NYC because everyone is moving and no one makes eye contact. I played with some random dude’s dog for like 30 seconds one time and later my gf pointed out the dude was (pre-Marvel) Robert Downy Jr.
