Yeah, you don't. Its a parody of sports talk radio/Hot Take TV and how serious and ridiculous it is. Pardon (the Interruption) My (First) Take.

Yea this really went over my head. Went and listened to one or two shows and did not get the premise that they are making fun of actual sports radio.

Thought it was supposed to be a legit podcast and only listened once and not even a full show one day.

Ill try and pick it back up at work when Im bored and see if I can get into it. Ill take it less seriously.

Used to read Barstool religiously for years, but there is no denying Barstool lost what made it great with the move NYC. The only thing I really pay attention to anymore is PMT.

Dave's persona used to be about being a douche because it was funny, but now that's just who he genuinely is. Not only that, most of his bloggers are absolute dead weight who contribute nothing.

Clay is full of himself, but at least he hasn't changed throughout his success. Barstool used to be about "frick you, we do what we want," but's just not the case anymore. Clay has stuck to that attitude and that's why I prefer him over Dave.

When did you listen to it? I started in football season and loved it. It has dropped off a bit but I believe it's bc of where we are in the sports calendar.

Wasn't during football season, and maybe I just caught a bad show or something.

The interviews can be hit or miss. If the person "gets it", like Blake Griffin, Rachel Nichols or SVP, the interviews are extremely fun. If they don't, they are terrible, like Kareem or AJ Green. And then there are the weird ones like Martin Skreli. Jim harbuagh was pretty great too.

They do tend to do better during football season, but that's everyone, really..

Don't think you can even really compare the success of those two things tho. Barstool is huge and prez cashed out big time. OKTC is nowhere near their level

It's easy for clay to stay true to himself when he controls 100 percent of the business still and doesn't have large scale advertising partners

Prez has bosses now, and barstool is a national brand. Apples to oranges you've got there

Was really disappointed with the Crean and Wilfork interviews this week. Guess I'm expecting too much.

Crean was great! I liked that interview a lot.

Wilfork was awful and boring, but I didn't expect anything from that at all.

Tom crean was an awesome interview

Wilfork just wasn't biting on their jokes but it got them on ESPN so it was a win for them

My bar is probably way too high. Crean was better than Wilfork though.

One of my favorite moments on PMT ever. I was laughing so hard. And then Tom Crean mentioning it in his episode was hilarious.

The Telling Bee today was one of my favorite segments ever.

It's apple to oranges to compare the guys who run two sports-oriented blogs? Isn't this exactly why Dave and Clay have always chirped each other?

Pres' strategy has always been to grow as quickly as possible with the very goal of cashing out. He did it well, and no one is denying that.

But I'm not referring to the scope of Barstool vs. OKTC. I'm referring purely to Clay vs. Dave, like the OP asked about.

quote:

You're assuming Clay has been trying to grow Outkick in the same manner/same speed as Barstool. Dave was aggressive in getting bloggers in each region. He even went after Clay for his takes on the south.

Clay's association with Fox Sports has done him well, but he hasn't tried to market himself at every turn like Portnoy has.

It's apples to oranges to compare their reactions to completely different levels of success. "The way they've changed". They have much different things at stake
