Because this is the argument that got many cases dropped.
Very few TCAP cases were dropped. Some got probation or light jail sentences, but even those got hit with sex offender status.
Dudes in the Georgia sting got years in prison.

Just because a judge determined this doesnt make the ruling just or correct. There is such a thing as a bad judgement passed down from the bench.

Yep. Early 2000’s , during my single and active duty days I would get on Yahoo Chat. Would get messaged constantly by underage. Always figured it was cops or scammers.
