Yes, I remember when "rising food costs" was on the ballot when I voted in November.

I bought a brisket for an end of school bbq (I hope I’m using that term right) and I almost lost my mind at trying to find one under $50.

Last year I could get one for $30-40 but it’s up to 4.50 a lb.

Pork prices have been coming down some. Even bacon has gotten a buck or two cheaper than around this time last year.

Based on the proposed spending levels of candidate Biden, yes you did. If you supported "shutdown" candidates, yes you did.

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc (CMG.N) said on Tuesday it has increased prices for products across its menu by about 4% owing to rising labor costs

For those who are up in arms about this, this makes a $10 burrito inflate all the way up to $10.40. Get a damn grip.

Food prices went up 3.5% from 2019 to 2020.

Food prices were up around 1% in April 2021 over April 2021.

Food prices were going up before I cast my vote in 2020. That is why I called you an idiot. Idiot.

And neither increase had a whole lot to do with who was in office anyway.

You're an idiot for voting for Biden but you're right about this. Labor and materials have increased and we're only seeing a 4% increase in costs here. That's a win for the worker if their wage increased by more than 4% (it did)

In fairness is not about the 4% but about the coming trend. The question is what is driving inflation, it is the increase in money or is it the pent-up demand and production and transportation bottlenecks. I think it is a little of both and we will see short-term high inflation but it will ease as soon as the demand and supply even out. I think those that are predicting things like hyper-inflation which the OP used in a recent thread are just wishcasting and don't have a clue what hyper-inflation actually is.

Weird how we're more open today than we were in November of 2020. I guess a competently run vaccine rollout will do that though. Very happy with my voting choice.

He's right.

I bought some pork steaks at the local slaughterhouse and they were considerably cheaper than the pandemic prices.

What’s pork have to do with the guy saying brisket prices were high?

It was just a general observation on food costs overall. Wasn't comparing the two, and I would suspect beef prices will normalize in the coming months as supply chain issues are slowly resolved.

All good brother.
Just pray it does. And I pray that this is the worst of it.
