I was a girard Viking for all sports except football, where I was a lakeshore Indian. I now live in the house the coaches at lakeshore had me lie to say I lived in back then

drive in theater on Vets just past David Drive
There was another drive in between the interstate & metairie rd and between oaklawn & lake ave. It was off that one street back there with a canal in the middle that crossed under I-10.
I was seven years old and the designated cockblocker for my older siblings. Folks would let them take the car (76 mercury cougar) on dates to that drive in but I had to tag along.

Fat City had a decent run, I hear it is nothing but apartment buildings filled with Mexicans now.

The man who developed DeLimon Place was First Officer (I think, possibly 2nd, or even 3rd) on the Liberty ship Jeremiah O'Brien.

Played at Mike Miley (then Airline Park) while growing up in AP.
Went to EJ in the mid 70's when EJ was the only Metry school in district 9-AAAA with all of the NOLA schools like Cohen, Clark, Carver, etc.
My pops and my family knew Mr. Lloyd from the Bonnabel trampolines place. He got pop to open his own trampoline place on the West Bank, next to the Shakeys on Stumpf and WB Expressway.
Remember going to Shoe Town to get $1 tickets for Jazz games.
Bowling...used to do jackpot bowling at Paradise and Pelican used to have $2 all you can bowl from midnight to 6AM on Sunday nights / Monday AM
Definitely spent my time at Fun Arcade. Also, does anyone remember anther Arcade being open for a short time on Vets near Lakeside? I seem to recall going to one once or twice that was in a trolley type building...
Worked for a short time at the old Imperial House motel on Causeway...back when WRNO was old school FM and had their studios located there.
Ok, that's enough of remembering how old I've gotten for one night.

We went so often that Davis and Virginia would always sit down and eat dinner with us whenever we ate there.
Us too. We ate at HoL weekly and my grandmother went there pretty much every day (she worked at the Estee Lauder counter at Godchaux's in Lakeside.) My mom and I ran into Davis a few months ago at Rouse's on Vets near Causeway. We were parked right next to him and Virginia was in the car waiting for him.
Davis Lee has an amazing memory, even at 70+ years old, he can name every one of my siblings and me, my parents and grandparents names.

They just closed within the last month or two. It was next to Morning Call FOREVER!
I bought a newspaper there on their last day open.

The end of Vets hits West End/Pontchartrain Blvd.
The OTHER end of Vets hits Loyola in Kenna.
No City Park.

Grew up in St. Angela's parish. Moved there in '64. Parents still there.
1. Trampoline Place on Orion and Vets.
2. Water slide in front of St. Angela (where Ochsner is.)
3. Barker's Discount Dept. Store (where Rouse's and KMart are)
4. Hopper's Drive in(I think it was where Burger King was and NO Beignet is now... Near where House of Lee was.)
5. House of Lee
6. Roy Roger's Roast Beef
7. Old Hammond Highway at the levee with that little bridge. Now a walking trail.
8. Elsie the cow on the service road. She'd wear a wreath at Christmas.
9. Mr. Walter's park over the levee at Homestead.
10. Burger Chef was before the Fun Arcade by Dorignac's.
11. The bookmobile driving around Metairie.
12. Soda fountains at K&B Drugs
If anyone is interested there's a facebook page "Metairie Memories" and another one is something like "aint there no more"

I remember Walter's Park. Made from all the junk that washed up out the lake.
K&B was on Martin Berman, right?
I still call gas stations Time Savers.
Grandma lived with us when I was little. Had to walk with her to Meydrich's so she didn't have to carry her groceries home. I was rewarded with the princely sum of $0.25 for my efforts.
