I don't think the punishment for that is death though.

I wouldn't say it's a punishment, but it could be a side effect

do you have any idea how many rounds an officer can discharge in 1 second?

4 for most issued / approved handguns.

ETA.. with a very proficiently trained officer and a little trigger pressure manipulation by your favorite armorer.

The video corroborates "that lie."

If you think that video corroborates the initial police report then you're not watching the same video in the OP.

He is brandishing a knife and turning towards the officers when he is shot. The video corroborates that.

5-6, sorry. we're talking about a human bodyframe inside 20 feet. that's a huge target.

If you think the average cop can accurately fire 5-6 shots in the first second they start shooting at a moving target who is coming at them with a knife you have no clue what you are talking about.

watch it again? He clearly turns towards the cops with the knife in his hands.

No, that was AFTER the first shot which likely led to a reaction

Bootlickers are in full force. Even when we have a cop in the thread saying the shooting wasn't justified. I'm shocked.

and even when the cop's own chief said he broke every rule in protocol

You need to either get your eyes or your head examined if you really believe that bullshite you just posted. Might want to go ahead and get both looked at.

The chief HAS to say that so the thugs don't ruin the city more than they already have been and surely are going to after seeing one of their own get taken out by someone other than a gangbanger.

FSRC’s 3-phase hit-probability study, which kicked off with field research last spring [6/06], is intended to document the speed and probable accuracy of assailants and officers trying to deliver sudden on-target rounds from various distances within the time frame of most OISs…to confirm which tactical options seem most likely to protect officers…and to determine what training systems seem most effective in increasing an officer’s ability to make fight-stopping hits, as well as imprinting other survival skills.

...

Over 1/3 had “never fired a handgun and only a few had more than a passing exposure” to sidearms, thereby qualifying them, group-wise, as naïve shooters. “A lot said they were very apprehensive and nervous about shooting,” Avery said. “They were not predisposed to like it.”

Naïve shooters are important, Avery explained, “because they give us baseline data for human ability, without bias being introduced by training experience.”

....

A strong majority of the shooters fired all 3 rounds within 1.5 seconds. That included reaction time in responding to the timer signal. Some were able to react and shoot all 3 shots within 1 second. A “very large majority” fired all 3 with about a quarter-second between shots. Some were longer, up to .35-.40.

An actual assailant who is deciding when to shoot without reacting to an auditory signal and who is likely bringing his gun out and up with his finger already on the trigger could be expected to get a first round off even faster than the volunteers, Avery said.

Beginner shooters can, with moderate accuracy, fire 3 shots in a second handicapped by waiting on an auditory signal and a specific ruleset.

Does not matter. It's not like the police knew. It's not like they were in a scuffle and he could not be subdued in the scuffle because of drugs. The police report lie likely seals the deal. He will plea to manslaughter though.

So 3 in 1.5 seconds means maybe 2 in one second. Thanks for proving my point.

Yes, even after the first shot that shouldn't have been taken, the THREAT was STOPPED. He had a KNIFE not a FIREARM. There was no way the guy could threaten anyone with the knife while he was on the ground. 15 more shots, well we're dealing with a dangerous dumbass. I couldn't imagine this idiot backing me up in an entry / clearing situation, that's a definite NO, wouldn't trust this guy to sweep the floors inside the precint.

Yeah I am wrong. I didn't realize the first shot came before the kid makes the rapid movement before he goes down.
