This is horrible.

Shot in the Loop in broad daylight. Unbelievable. For those that don’t know this is like the equivalent of Times Square.

Not really. If you don’t live in a bad part of town (5-8 miles from city center), the worst thing you’ll generally encounter is homeless people. The crime is very segregated.

Yeah, the Thompson Center isn’t really Times Square at all. I walk by it all the time on my commute. It’s a transport hub with lists of fast food restaurants and bus and sub access, but there’s actually nothing to see there.
I think the guy who was saying that was thinkin of the Daily Center which is basically a huge open space event space but that isn’t really like time square either

I never thought about police, or their job until recently. I have the utmost respect for them now. I realize there are a few bad apples, but most of them just want to do their job and go home at the end of their shift. Prayers sent.

It's a damn shame. Police have a hard job and they are made to enforce some stupid laws but most of them are good people.

Chicago is a nice city except for the giant sections of ghetto. But it’s easy to avoid those areas.
It’s really tragic that every major American city has to have huge swathes of prime real estate taken up by third world shithole ghettos. It’s a major cost and disruption that is never spoken of.

Just look up "Francis Cabrini Homes". While the original Cabrini Green was torn down in 2010, there is still a sore spot in that area. Every time I drive down Chicago Ave. there is always at least one squad car at the entrance to this community. Probably just there for security but it's definitely a sore thumb to downtown Chicago.

Yeah, the head of security for our building even made fun of the laws.
Even the liberal suburb kids I know up here are looking into getting guns for protection.
The criminals are hitting up gun ranges in the suburbs. A coworker lives near a luxury gun range that got broken into and had dozens of guns stolen.
