“The directions were a guarantee to get him killed”

“Now let me show you how he didn’t follow directions”

As a non moron, I realize that turning around with a gun in my hand would likely get me killed.

This kid obviously didn't realize that but that isnt the cop's fault.

The why not tell him to stop and drop the gun?

The cop said to stop and show him his hands. Pride is deaf and thinks that didn’t happen.

Cops says stop. Kid finally stops. Cop says show me your hands, kid turns around as he’s picking his hands up. Yes, he had a gun. I get that. I’m not stupid. But that instruction was going to get him killed. Period.

Pride hears that

Pride is trying to figure out how that actually means “turn around with the gun” though in slacksters mind

genuinely curious, shouldnt the cop have ordered the kid to get on the ground instead of just yelling "stop"

is there a protocol here?

You are such a hack

“Stop”.

He did that

“Drop the gun and show me your hands.” He failed to do that. He decided to turn around instead with the gun

I mean its pretty easy for someone like you having all of the information now to armchair quarterback it.

Little different if you're the guy chasing someone with a gun thru the dark at 2:30 AM when a split second decision is the difference in you dying or not.

Either one works. The criminal simply didn’t listen.

So guys, I just saw some updated stillshots. I'm willing to come in here and eat my crow. Looks like I was wrong. The kid still had his gun before he turned around. He tossed it and turned around with his hands up.

Imo it looks like the kid was technically trying to comply. But the officer likely saw him reach in pocket for the gun, but didn't see him toss it. Cop blasted the second he saw gun and kid turn around.

Not a clear-cut bad shot anymore imo. That kid should have never been in that position. Just a terrible situation all around.

What part about he had a gun in his hand don’t m you understand?

He didn’t shoot simply because he turned toward him

As I said earlier and was downvoted to hell, the only way out of this situation for both parties is the officers to stop pursuit and obtain the suspect at a later date that’s more beneficial to the officers.

Just so you know, last year a Tuscaloosa cop was shot and killed on some thugs front porch as he was executing a warrant.
So, no it's no guarantee everything will be peaceful later on, either.

You left out the part about taking the gun out of your pocket and trying to be slick and dump it behind a fence to get out of the crime you just committed Cop saw the butt of the gun and his quick turn It wasn’t as slick of a move as the kid thought

This was exactly what I was thinking. Yes, it’s a shame that a 13 year kid died being a complete fricking idiot criminal. But what do you expect the cop to do? He knows he had/has a gun (that’s why they were called), he’s running from him in a dark alley, then tries to dumb the gun while turning around... Sounds like a pretty straight forward way to get your arse shot.

He didn’t say that. You’re making that up.

The last instructions out of his mouth when the kids stopped were “show me your fricking hands”

Indiana,-------------- with some of the laxest gun purchase laws in the United States, is where the gangs in Chicago get a very large portion of their guns and ammo.

That would be a problem anywhere for the foreseeable future. Considering all the guns in this country the bad guys will always be able to get them despite all laws , buy backs, confiscation, etc.

He said this, as you pointed out:

Unaudible, STOP!”

“STOP right fricking now”

“Hey, show me your fricking hands”

“Drop”

The kid didn’t follow these directions. He decided to turn around with the gun instead

Damn dude you are trying hard.

The kid didn’t give a frick about what the cop was saying. He stopped because he thought he had a good place to dump the gun and act like he was innocent.

He wasn’t trying to follow instructions otherwise he would have never run to begin with
