It might have been mentioned already, but I just learned this today. Pride was an all-star in the negro league.

My Dad used to play and sing some Charlie Pride songs and that was my introduction. My Dad did a killer version of Crystal Chandeliers that when I was a wee lad, people would come to the house and ask my dad to sing it.

He was a member at a golf club I was a member at in Dallas and would always pull a funny prank every time I saw him on the driving range. He would walk up to a random person hitting on the range and tap them on the shoulder and ask them if they had a check for the money they owed him. Many did not know who he was and it was pretty funny to watch their reactions. I played with him once. Great guy and the nicest most sincere person. RIP Charley.
