And as far as recovery, everyone is different. Sometimes the nerve root is permanently damaged and it will not fully recover. Good news is it can take up to a year for full recovery.

Thanks for the reply. No PT yet, only 4 weeks post surgery.

Can’t remember the specific numbers. But I have a fused vertebrae (think C3&4) buldging disk and a pinched nerve on the next two. Can’t sleep or lay on my left side or my Ulnar send pain and then numbness from shoulder to backside my elbow to my pinky and half my ring finger
I have some neck stretches I do when it acts up or I sleep wrong. Avoiding the knife as long as I can. 46, problem started when I was 41.

Wait a second. They do all that shite from the FRONT?!
Yep, I have one big scar on the front already. Through the front they don’t have to cut through any muscle which make recovery easier. They cut you and push all your pipes to the side.

How long did they say you would be in the brace?
Posted on 11/6/20 at 6:15 pm to Bosethus68
you need to have the surgery by a doctor that does minimally invasive. friend had a 3 level. home the same day. in bed for 2. moving around after that. playing tennis in a light capacity 3 months later. also, unless you are looking for it you cant see any scar.

Sounds more like a laminectomy or microdiscectomy, not a fusion.

I’m a PT who sees a lot of them in the hospital. Have you had any improvement in the numbness? How long did you have issues before surgery. Nerves can take quite a while to regenerate if you had long term issues.

19 days from onset to surgery, which is why im concerned.

My lawyer told me that if I did this I’d hit the jackpot.

I'm 4 weeks past sugery. Left arm still weak, and left index finger still numb. Hope nerve root recovers.
Who did your surgery?

Harrod, very pleased with him.
You let an orthopedic surgeon do Cervical ACDF 2 Level surgery on your spine?
Did you consult with a Neurosurgeon for a second opinion before?
Posted on 11/6/20 at 8:26 pm to tgrbaitn08
A neuro participated. Plenty of orthos do these procedures these days all across the nation. Harrod graduated number 1 one in his class at LSU Med School, and did his residency at Harvard. His reputation is beyond solid.
