Did them a few years back…

It wasn’t terrible, but one thing that gets me is that you are buying plans or agreements for x days in advance, so the billing/cut off day would shift and you would loose a day when you had months with 31 days.

Then the data cap on the 45 dollar plan I had would cut off high speed data at 25GB and would revert to some obscene near dialup speeds.

After Hurricane Ida, I realized I needed a new phone and wanted tethering and no cap, so I went back to the big boys.

For those that have went to StraightTalk or Total Wireless, how easy is it to keep the same number you have now?

Went from Verizon's high arse to Cricket wireless. 4 phones unlimited everything 100 a month. Granted, you gotta buy new phones when it's time to go "new phone" as Cricket has no contracts and free phone deals. Was able to keep all of our phone numbers when i switched over. Worth it to me.

$25 per month Visible. Going on my 4th year with them. No noticeable difference coming from AT&T or Verizon. Have three lines with them.

25 + years ago when it was mobil-tel or something I started @ $ 70 everything unlimited, over the years with increases its up $120 a mo . I want to find something cheaper but service has been so good over time. I don't like how they just keep raising prices though .
Verizon

No. I am saving $80/month by switching. I was paying roughly $220 at verizon and now I am paying roughly $140 at ATT.

I’ve been considering this lately. 7 lines with ATT (us, 2 kids, 2 parents and MIL) is $280/month with ATT. Then I realized that all of our ‘free’ phones would cost almost $2600 in lost rebates if we switched. I might move the kids/parents to Consumer Cellular in a few months when their phones are paid for and use them as a trial run so we can see the difference in service.

Verizon had an option on my account page online to get a code to port number.

When I switched I just gave Total the code and it ported the number over. It took a few hours to process, then good to go.

The process may vary by company so you may check Reddit r/nocontracts or r/nameofmvno for most recent discussions. Occasionally some people have issues and it takes days to resolve because most mvnos have minimal to zero customer support.

Went to Visible from Verizon.

Pay upfront by the year for for their upgraded plan, $395/yr (32.91/mo.)

Can't beat it and if you add an Apple watch, that's free.

No difference from past Verizon service.

Switched from T-Mobile to visible. Visible works better in my home. Haven’t really noticed differences anywhere else.
