I'm looking at a used car for refit/restore. Carmax in BR has an attractive candidate. But I'm told they won't negotiate price. Anyone have experience with Carmax?

I've never heard them negotiating. But it's been years since I've been around Carmax. They were big in Atlanta and other cities long before they came to BR

The listed price is it. No negotiating. Doc fees and TTL are reasonable as well.

I thought the non negotiating was a big part of their advertising.

Well that sucks because they are way overpriced.

Great Chapstick in or outside Baton Rouge.

This is because they thoroughly go through the vehicles before they hit the sales floor (so they say)

I wouldn't say way overpriced.
Any used car you buy from a dealer that takes time to clean and detail them marks them up.
But their prices are in line with kbb.com dealer prices. Definitely not private party prices.

They purposefully entered incorrect information about my wife's car into their valuation system and came up with a $6500 offer about 2 years ago for a 2008 Dodge Charger R/T with a 396hp Hemi V8 loaded out with nav, voice command (on an 08), 20" chrome rims and Z-Rated Tires.
Went to the dealership and got over $13K trading in.
frick them. I showed them what they did by not inputting her package correctly and they would not re run the correct value again. Like I said, frick them. Knew all I needed to know after that BS.

It's significantly higher than Houston dealer prices.

08 chargers were 370 hp, 390 torque
The 395 hp 5.7l Hemi is in the ram truck and has the same active intake manifold as the 6.4l Apache head HEMI that comes on the 392 models.

quote:the vast majority of hemi charger and challenger drivers are Caucasians. You just see more blacks on the road in them because of the base v6 models are stylish and pretty affordable. Hemi's are almost always stored away in a well to do white guy's garage awaiting a nice, sunny day
you're black

And they ripped their logo off of the tigerdroppings logo

I got a quote from them to buy my van. They offered almost a third of what I eventually sold it for.
They make horrible offers, then sell them high.

You're a great troll
Who's trolling? These are facts. Just because the guys you associate with like big lifted trucks with Diesel engines doesn't mean all whites do. The generation that loves the modern day muscle cars are the same guys who hot rodded back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. The charger, challenger, mustang, and Camaro are iconic American muscle that brings middle and old aged guys back to their youth, while introducing the younger generation to the joys of American muscle, big burly v8 torque monsters.
I honest to god meet more white charger and challenger owners at car shows than blacks.

If your looking for a used vehicle I would try Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami and Tampa. Last quarter of 2014 I found vehicles in those cities to be a few thousand lower than anywhere in Louisiana. I saved $3000 by buying in Houston.

I had a $4000 difference by going to Dallas.
