If you go to court you could probably have the careless op ticket reduced to a non-moving violation. I've done this before. Sometimes they just throw it out if the officer isn't there. I've had that happen too.
ETA: Yes, 15 and over is considered careless op. I got it one time but he wrote it on the same ticket. I thought it may have been 20, but maybe that is the speed one's license gets yanked.

How were you in the left lane for miles? It's 4 lanes only within Clinton for 1 mile. You should have known the speed dropped.

I would personally just humbly go to the DA and ask if you can go to traffic school or something to get one or both reduced to non-moving violations to keep them off your insurance...

Speeding tickets aren't terrible for insurance if you don't get them with regularity... CO tickets are pretty bad. Worst ticket I ever got insurance wise was a disregard of a traffic control device. Cop ran a red light and almost hit me and pulled me over and gave me a ticket. Insisted I ran the red light... The 4 cars that came through right after me got a pass apparently.
