Should be comprehensive. Also should be defined in your policy. The adjusters opinion carries more weight than the agent when dealing with the mothership, but it’s good that the agent is advocating for you.

Animal collisions are paid under comp, but if you hit a human being as a pedestrian it is collision.

You hit an object in the road other than an animal and it’s collision. Doesn’t matter where it came from.

The answer is simple: if the basket was moving, it is a comprehensive claim. If it was stationary in the roadway when you hit it, it would be Collision.

I know this for a fact; DO NOT tell insurance it bounced. Once it contacts the ground, it’s collision. MAKE sure you tell them it was in the air, that is comp.

THIS.

Key words is the basket was air borne and unavoidable.

If it’s on the ground it’s collision. I’ve been through this a couple times and have been “educated” by agents. Tire treads and even a boat prop one time.

Animals are different since they can physically move and be unpredictable.

It’s amazing how little agents know about the product that they sale. Never listen to an agent about a claim. They have no say so about a claim.
