1-2k Off the sticker and ask for maintenance

Congrats on your car that will be worth 5k in 5 years.

Rule of thumb: pay 10% less than asking price. New or used if its a foreign model vehicle.

Buy the same car with 70-85k miles for around $9000.
Put 75k miles on it.
Sell it for around $5000.

Do it again.

Your cost per mile in this new car (minus gas & maintenance) even if you put 200k miles on it will be around $0.12.

Whereas the used car scenario I suggested would have a cost per mile of around $0.05.

Can you look a vehicle brand that offers some driving excitement? At least Honda cares about steering feel and driving dynamics.

This is also fricking retarded. Average miles driven a year is 15k in the US. So you'd have to find a 6-7 year old car with that mileage. 9k for that kind of car is too much.

Then in all your wisdom you really think a 9-10 year old car is worth 5k? Are you high?

So if a used car (2013 model, 40,000 Miles) is listed at 28,500, I should at least not pay more than $25,650?

Just asking bc im in that same predicament and they only took $1200 off and wouldn’t budge anymore...figured I’ll just wait them out for the time being.

Thanks.

Use a reputable site to find the cost to dealer for vehicle you desire. (edmunds is pretty close). Subtract any known dealer incentives that reduce their cost. Pay no more than 3.5% above that price.

Honda also only makes cars for chicks. Even their truck is a chick car.

Are you a chick?

I forget that most new cars that some of you hicks buy are marked up so high you get a boner when you think you're getting a deal by getting 5-10k cash back. Why do you think BMW Audi etc. don't have such high incentives? It's because they're vehicles are priced better to begin with. Ford Toyota GMC etc are all shittily priced and that's why you get pissed when your car isn't worth shite 4 years down the road.

The experts of the OT will tell you that, if you negotiate properly, the dealer will pay YOU to buy the car.

Just find a car you like at a price you feel satisfied with, and move on with your life. Agonizing over car buying takes too much work.

I bet my 2016 Tundra will still be worth a good bit in 2020.
