Generally, the outside temperature sensor is located under the front of the hood near the bottom of the car. Although the sensor itself is accurate, the location causes the sensor to pick up heat from the road surface. Thus, it will usually read several degrees higher than the air temperature. This is especially noticeable when driving on high speed highways for which the road surface not only picks up heat from the sun but from car tires.

Most new cars have them near the fog light area low.

I stumbled across an option somewhere in my settings to adjust the outside temp up or down to better reflect reality. I've just never really cared enough to check to see if it's accurate to begin with...

once you begin to drive and get some airflow around where it’s located it’s fairly accurate, unless you’re driving a Model T

I remember in 2006 I took that car out, it was my grandmas on a Friday night and did some street racing with buddies who all had civics and wanna be fast and furious cars. I was exploding off the green light and leaving them fools. That car had some serious HP!!!!

Hate to burst your bubble old baw but you must have been drunk. These cars are painstakingly heavy (4000#?) and slow as frick. But they are extremely comfortable. I picked this 2004 up for 4 grand with only 80K miles on it. One owner and had been well maintained at the stealership.

If you can get your hands on a 03 or 04 Marauder, get a good tune and some mods, you'll have a decently quick panther platform.

Those sensors are a lot more accurate in cooler, cloudy weather. Especially in the winter. Pretty useless in summer.

A lot of vehicles get the temp reading from the IAT ( intake air temp)sensor.
