Cap day in high school and “Don’t wear your cap backwards or crooked.”

For those who remember cap/hat day in elementary/high school, I’m sure you remember a similar rule my school had “Always wear your cap straight.”
What was the reason for this rule? Did a student somewhere accidentally gouge another student’s eye out with their bill pointing backwards?

it's like when you went to catholic school and they made you cut your hair above the collar. meanwhile, after telling you to be just like Jesus, you damn sure couldn't wear your hair like he did.

Did you have pajama day? (There was a recent South Park episode on pajama day, so I assume such days are ubiquitous.)
Similar thing. A day for good students to buck the usually dress code and wear a ball cap in school during class.
Edit: Been out of school for 15 years, so I forgot this part, but apparently it was part of a charity and students had to chip in $1 for the right to wear a cap on the day.

Had a professor decide like halfway through a semester that he wasn't going to allow baseball caps in class. I had been wearing one every single day along with others.
I told him when he started paying my tuition for me then he could tell me how to dress.
And honestly if he had wanted to make that a rule on day one I probably wouldn't have cared, but frick changing it halfway through the semester.

I rock flat bills in my 40s so long as they're low crown
