But I do in fact understand completely the peace of mind some have my knowing they have a way to protect themselves and more so loved ones by way of a firearm...
Even if that peace of mind is illusion and that the chance of needing a gun in a car in infinitesimal?

Yes my great uncle that lives out in the sticks is more at peace of mind while home and when he doesn't like driving to town to make groceries or make deposits at the bank without his .380
Maybe we could get the legislatures to make a new position of 'Moral Authority' and you can apply for it. You can be the one to let people know what actions should or shouldn't be taken and how much peace of mind they should have in such situations.
You're probably superior anyway

Well there are some people that have unreasonable thoughts that find their state of "peace of mind" when others are put in danger.
Peace of mind is not the end of the conversation.
ETA: you seem to be very emotional. Is this discussion upsetting?

Not at all... just having a back and forth with you.
Like I said, I don't own an gun and haven't in some years.
I do live in an urban environment (uptown) but not one to ever be scared.
But I also don't try to think I'm morally or intellectually superior anyone and don't judge the way they feel or think as long as it doesn't affect me.

But in all honesty the rediculous paranoia is at the bottom of BLM movement, anti-Mexican, anti-Muslim, anti-Confederate monuments, etc movement.
Everybody is scared of stupid shite and it's really, really affecting our culture now and thereby affecting me. Time to stop being quiet about extreme thinking invading what is the absolute pentacle of peaceful times.
At no other time in history is your life as a human more safe from anything on earth and yet there are those that shape public policy based on the boogeyman.

But directing your time towards targeting legally gun carrying citizens is misguided.

Again, all I was asking 7th was if he felt threatened or had been robbed before because I have never needed a gun in the car
Then people chimed in about how retarded it was to ever question wanting a gun in your car as if THATS a stupid position.

Well, if I had to take a stand I would say it actually is rediculous to carry a loaded handgun in a car. Then again that's why I asked about specific circumstances in 7th's case.
Posted on 2/19/17 at 10:44 pm to 7thWardTiger
Why would you leave your pistol in the car wile out shopping? Might as well leave it at home if you're not going to keep it on your person at all times while out. A firearm does you no good in your car if you're not actually in your car.

I won't dipshit. Guaranteed.

When you are out and about, sometimes you may have to stop at a place unfortunately that is a 'no gun zone' and in those cases i would think it's perfectly fine to leave the gun hidden in a secured vehicle.... I don't get what the big deal is.

quote:i've been robbed at gunpoint 4 times while delivering pizzas in college. I have a pistol that I conceal because I have a daughter I have to make it home to at night, and people are killing for nothing these days. Leaving it in the car was my mistake, but who expects their car to be broken into at the mall, when it's parked directly under a light, with plenty of traffic coming by and in and out. I know not to trust any situation with my next conceal gun. Been eyeing that M&P shield, now the SO has no reason to stop me from ordering it.

I guess I can't conceal carry anymore, especially to and forth to my job
Twice in two weeks my car has been vandalized, and both have happened after the initial court hearings. Coincidence but shite just doesn't add up.

I come across those places and 9 out of 10 times I walk right in with my .44 inside my waistband and nobody notices anything. Aboutvrgr only place I frequent that I don't conceal carry into is my cardiologist office. And the only reason I don't carry in there is I have to take my shirt off at each visit.
