Cannot keep up with my yard work!

Every year about this time I get desperate for help in my yard. Work is crazy, no time, the yard is big and gets away from me, the further behind I get, the worse it looks, the crazier it makes me...

I don't need someone to mow and trim, I need someone to weed and work the beds and generally clean up. Years ago I had a retired fellow who would come by any time I needed help, but he injured his back and doesn't work anymore.

Any [serious and helpful] suggestions?

Yuuuup

$10 an hour is all they charge. If the fricker gets hurt, drop him off at the ER and leave.

I take your point.

But I am not bringing someone I don't know around my family.

And I'd like to have someone who would come over regularly - I could probably keep someone busy half a day a week most weeks of the year. And even if they weren't busy, it would be worth it to me to have them steadily available when I do need the help. Make sense?

I hate yard work, it cuts into my workout time.

You want someone to suggest someone you know?

I am about to this point as well...I really do enjoy working in the yard, but there is just no damn point in trying to convince myself that I can keep it decent looking any longer...

I'd like someone to suggest someone they know, and can vouch for the person's reputation as safe and honest to have around a person's home and family.

If you are working with/for me, I'm going to treat you respectfully and pay you well. In return, I expect you not to be checking out ways to get into my house or checking out my family...right?

Well if you go to church, ask some one in need of extra money, or a kid there... or a kid in the neighborhood.

I get your point on not hiring some one you don't know, but I don't know how the OT is suppose to help provide you with some one you do know?

The fest time I did it, they worked out so well that I got their number and call them anytime I need work done around the house.

You'd be surprised how good of a worker you will find in front of a home improvement store. I understand your reservations about bringing them home (BTW most have transportation), but your alternative is to bring someone else you don't know yet around. Most of them have some crazy skills too. Pick one that looks trustworthy and not on crack, which isn't actually hard with the south of the border labor pool.

I get my kids to weed the beds every couple of weeks while I mow and edge.

I have a similar problem except with things to do around the house. Too many things on the to do list.

ok WeeBeaux.
I LOL'd.
Close, but not exactly what I had in mind.

Yeah, I used to put my kids to work in the yard as well, but they are mostly out of the house at this point. I love being outside and have always done most of the yard work myself, but I'm older, got way too much going on at work, and damn it...it's baseball season. So there's the truth.
