Heavy weed usage on a kid's brain is not good. The brain is still developing until the mid 20's. Fact
And people who use weed at an early age are more likely to develop drug use as a habit. See this board, where hundereds of weed users are defending the use of weed for people with mental illness, despite the growing numbers of mental illness, homelessness, and their connection to drug usage.

Weed and amphetamines are very popular among this crowd.

Ask yourself this: have you had a conversation with someone who uses weed mention a time where they became paranoid or freaked out? It's probably somewhere close to 100% among weed users.
Combine those side effects with the growing number of people with mental health, and you have a recipe for disaster. Of course, the weed users will conveniently forget about those side effects just to justify their brain altering habits.
Or, maybe it's the drug use that makes them forget?

Weed absolutely has negative effects on a developing brain
After mid to late 20s effects on the brain are significantly less
