Maybe it's just me, but it felt like there were a lot of surprising economic "wins" and "near winds" in Jindal's first term. The state was aggressively pursuing major industrial expansion, operations centers, and in the running for even some smaller corporate HQ's. Steve Moret left the state to work for Virginia's LED org after JBE got into office..... and he helped recruit Amazon's HQ2 to that state.

Jindal screwed up his second term, but his first term + Holden in Baton Rouge was a historic time for the state from an economic development perspective. I imagine it would have been even better had Katrina never happened and New Orleans was a little better organized.

Absolutely. Just look at downtown Baton Rouge from around 2006-2011. It was flourishing with bars, restaurants and events.

Holden was doing a lot to revitalize downtown BR too and all the progress got thrown out with SWB. Federal government was going to pay for a streetcar from LSU to downtown, costing us not a single penny, but it didn't help black people so it got killed. Just one example. State and it's two major cities are going backwards because of the people voted into office. Landry is a fricking moron that doesn't actually care about economic progress or government efficiency, he just wants headlines banning marijuana and trying to put prayer into schools instead of actually doing something.

They're in Plano now, just around the corner on Bishop. They added about 60k sf to their existing building in 2019 but never really occupied the space.

I'm not impressed with what I see so far. He's just JBE part 2 so far, except Republican instead of Democrat.

Jindal was our chance but someone told him to run for president. Then he gave up being a Louisiana governor and became what he thought a republican should be at a national level. He fizzled out big time.

“So what exactly remains of Cane's in Louisiana, other that its original location”

Pretty sure I use to get my haircut there before they closed.. hey you have canes 2 over by rouses also.

I read Todd bought the top two floors of some new super rich condo high rise in Plano… guess he will live in penthouse and use second floor for friends?

Have not heard of him selling his br house on the lake.. so may use it for tailgates along with his training building by canes1…man what a success story he is …

Holden did a great job. All the people crying racism like to memory hole how many white people voted for the guy. Does a good job and makes me wonder what his next costume will be? You've got my vote

No one election is going to change thing enough that actual corporate talent will move to BR.

A large company like that cannot be limited to what BR has to offer

A good mayor will go to bat for a good local homegrown company. A good mayor would drive a couple miles down the street and meet with the Gov. to keep this company in LA.

Thats what a good mayor would do

Great location. Those 1,020 will love it around there.

I lived right across Preston from that Park when it was still EDS(1999-2000).

I have PTSD from my time there. I couldn't wait to move back to Baton Rouge after I got some IT experience.

"Baton Rouge sucks DFW rules". I get it. Blah blah blah. But it's not for everyone.

There was a really nice gym in that EDS building back then. It was a YMCA. Is it still around? that's a great perk if so.

Wait.

Dont forget about making sure he can buy a coke in Tiger Stadium with cash instead of a debit card.

Wait.
Don't forget his attacking the head coaches because the national anthem was being played before the got out of the locker room.

Wait.
What about him allowing Louisiana residents to get RAPED by insurance companies?? Instead, he recently allowed rates to increase at will and no longer needing approval from the LA Legislature!!

Used to bartend close to the original Cane’s on Highland… not gonna lie… occasionally I think about “what if” as it pertains to getting employed there in the early stages and growing a career with Cane’s. I would imagine people that have been with Todd since the early days are well compensated.

So what exactly remains of Cane's in Louisiana, other that its original location and other franchises? Is there any corporate presence here at all?

The corporate headquarters is still here.

lol

Did you read the Advocate this morning? It seems they did another study about revitalizing Downtown and guess what? They recommended more bars, restaurants and things for visitors.

Kip had Downtown growing, but Broome took care of that.
