Can you still be a racist even if you have a black friend?

For years I have heard this argument that "You can still be a racist even if you have a black friend," but how is that possible? I will start by saying that I do have black friends. They are great guys, and I feel no differently towards them than I do my white friends. I think pointing out that I have black friends would be a perfectly valid response if someone were to ever label me a racist.
Google defines racism as:
-The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
or
-Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
I don't know a better way to prove that I do not think I am superior to other races than to point out my great relationships with people of other races. If race were really the factor, then wouldn't someone that was racist towards Asians discriminate against all Asians? If not, the secondary factor is where the discrimination and prejudice comes from.

No. You cannot be racist if you have black friends. I have several black friends on Facebook. It's why I joined a swap meet group.

I have several black friends who aren't "thugs" or "trash". I judge people by what they do and how they act. 95% of the crime around me is committed by black thugs, thus, when I see someone dressed like one and acting like one, I'm not going to trust them.

To answer your question...never heard of a klansmen or skinhead having a black friend....
But I did know a klansman that owned a car shop...would take my car to him to get fixed...would notice the burning cross pic on a wall...didn't know he was a member until his niece told me.. Said the fricker had KKK shite in his garage and always talked shite on blacks when blacks weren't around. But a lot of his customers are black.
She told me not to tell anyone...that's when i said...Damn no wonder there's a pic of a big burning cross on his wall."
And this fricker would call me "buddy", "bud", was nice to my face. But I never told anyone about his KKK ties. Maybe the rest are dumb like me and saw the pic and thought it was some ceremony or festival he went to.
ETA: I would still take my car to his shop...he's an honest guy, great prices....guess the green is all that matters when doing business.

Because I don't think you can just categorize groups of people like that and say one is better than the other.

Thank you and then it turns into a black bashing thread or they wait for Strongsafety to come in....
Like I said in another thread...I don't hear or see anything about race unless it's on national news or this message board. Other than that I can go a day without anything racial, racist, black, white, etc being said.
