Fluent in Japanese. Didn't take me long at all to learn it - I was raised with it.

Mandarin...spent 3 years at Feng Chia University in Tai Chung, Taiwan after graduating from Bama with a degree in Asian Studies.
Can trudge through French, but I have to listen carefully and think hard when doing so.

I'm also a DLIFLC grad, 32 weeks in Monterey for German in 1979...can still hold a fairly simple conversation, but don't ask me to use correct grammar...

How hard is it to learn French if youre an American who just speaks English
I listen to Nekfeu (french rapper), I like the language and how it sounds in general
Think it would be a quality language to learn, ladies would like it I think too

Grew up speaking Italian (Two dialects) in our home. Dad was an immigrant, mom 1st generation. Parents never allowed us to speak it outside of the home unless to family elders. Actually funny, my parents had a hard time communicating with each other in Italian because their dialects were so different. Father was born just outside of Lucca and speaks Toscano, mom's parents were from the Quatieri Spagnola in Naples and spoke a dialect that is confined to that area. They actually found it easier to speak English to each other.

DOD Board Certified 3,3,3 Reading Writing Speaking Russian and it took 47 weeks iso-submersion at the DLI.
Polish (no boards taken) self taught using Rosetta Stone
Spanish, also Rosetta Stone.
French, also Rosetta Stone.
And Dutch, also Rosetta Stone.
Eta: For all those who went to DLI and don't use their language, I am fortunate to use Russian daily in my private practice (lots of Russian speakers in the ATL metro area). I use the Spanish I learned thru Rosetta Stone daily as well.

Yeah, a little Spanish and a little (modern) Greek. Definitely not fluent, though.
